We fund solar-powered electricity using green technologies to empower communities in Sub-Saharan Africa with a comprehensive approach to sustainable development.
By leveraging electrification through mini-grids and green technologies provided by our partners, such as Africa GreenTec, our goal is to address critical renewable electricity needs such as reliable solar-powered refrigeration, desalination, water purification, water pumps, street lighting, and individual power grid boxes.
Our work actively shifts the narrative, emphasizing the inherent capability of African communities to drive their own progress. We position ourselves as supporters of each community's initiatives, recognizing people's potential to effect positive change. Everything we do ensures that the traditions and cultures of each community in which we work is preserved.
To date, we have completed 24 ImpactSite installations across sub-Sahara Africa that have achieved the following:
61,597 people have been provided with electricity
989 entrepreneurs have started businesses
3,907 tons of CO2 have been avoided
Africa GreenTec (AGT) is one of our partners that provides sustainable solar-powered technology to sub-Saharan African communities we support. The company empowers communities through educational initiatives and sustainable humanitarian support. Their goal is to promote self-reliance by providing capacity-building programs in areas such as entrepreneurship, energy and agriculture.
AGT collaboratively promotes mutual learning and a community-based approach to sustainable development. As a social enterprise, they act on an equal footing with their customers. Their prices and wages are adapted to the respective local conditions and calculated in such a way that an ImpactSite can be operated and maintained as economically and self-sufficiently as possible. In this way, they ensure that their projects do not fail after a few years, but are sustainable in every sense.
